INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: Musical reading: Anneke Lubkowitz ‘Rebellinnen zu Fuß’ (Rebels on Foot) and Sümeyye Ergün (guitar)

8 March 2026 | 19:30 hours | ZFIL, Säulenkeller | free of charge

The freedom to roam as a woman was something the Rebellinnen zu Fuß—the “rebels on foot” described by Anneke Lubkowitz in her narrative non-fiction book—often first had to fight for. Sophie von La Roche, Bettina Brentano, Karoline von Günderrode, Mary Shelley, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Mathilde Franziska Anneke, Emmy Hennings, Else Lasker-Schüler, Simone de Beauvoir, Annemarie Schwarzenbach, and Octavia E. Butler: the list of voices featured here, whose stories are told and whose footsteps we can follow, brings together a wide range of very different personalities. Yet all of these biographies share one insight: walking is about more than the conquest of landscapes. It is about freedom, self-determination, and a female perspective on nature.

On International Women’s Day 2026, Anneke Lubkowitz will read from her book Rebellinnen zu Fuß, accompanied by guitarist Sümeyye Ergün.

The event is free of charge. Registration is requested at gesine.heger@stadt-unna.de.

Reading with Jakob Schwertfeger –PUNKT PUNKT KOMMA STRICH, FERTIG IST DIE KUNSTGESCHICHT

24 September 2026 | 19:00 hours | ZFIL, Säulenkeller | 20,00 €

A BELLY FLOP INTO ART HISTORY
Ever since humans have existed, they have been making art – sometimes dazzling and colourful, sometimes dark and menacing. Museums and galleries are a huge pool of effervescent creativity.
Stand-up comedian and art historian Jakob Schwerdtfeger inspires art novices and experts alike with his unique perspective. What does Impressionism have to do with dog jumpers? Why does Cubism look like someone punched a mirror? And how did the Renaissance become the nerd among art eras?

From 6 p.m., excerpts from the collection and our current temporary exhibition will be open to the public.
